technology and capitalism

the pursuit of the specticle. to distract us for just a minute so our mind can run wild. the latest i phone product, the boredom of buying, the love of old hi fi technolgy, a computer thats 10 years old, a body thats been thinking way too much, not a mind, the light thats creeping under my blind tells me saturday is here.

trying to get a new ftsm magazine up but failing, thinknig about my weekend walk along merri creek and the mud, sweet mud, wondering if the dust in my 1970 hi fi will ever get out.

looking forward to the second hi god peple show of the year. dont know why i bother writing this blog does anyone read it, its like im this algorythm locked in space, i do like to socialise with people and not sit here for too long, i'm being dragged with my cave man stick into the future, i long for a silent world with just bird, animal and wind sounds, i'm allright jack, im just in lack of sleep land.

today is the day your life will surely change. a little bit anyway.

so here i am and its a day off

i will release myself from the world, as i know it, of work and work, and it was a bonus when the coding manager (who also drums in inevitable orbit) says stay at home ju ju (he calles me this). enjoy the day.
what have i been up to? really busy week just scooting around doing odd jobs like videos shot my nick potter, putting them onto you tube. cant for the life of me remeber what i did on monday night, but i did somthing. not much happening on creative side, but i will get some copies of my book printed up, so i can get the hatchet pen out and make a new draught.( i remember moday night now, i went to see the gillian armstrong doco 'love lust and lies' which was most entertaining)

my weekend was fun athough i pulled a muscle on the dancefloor doing some stupied cossack type dance. it was only a tinge really, but i liked drawing attetion to myself. maybe the 3 gin and tonics helped. first time ive been drunk in 18 months and its nice just to partake occasionally.it was a roal dahl party and i went as myself as rowwoe would have wanted.anyways i will say bye bye

so long harry and anne

been a while since i wrote somthing. the hi fod show above was good. i slept well that night after havin a go in the national gallery confines. we were not jazz, but maybe frazz, in yellow ponchos and silver faces, we could have taken on the world, but it wasnt ready, just stepped out for 12 years.

not much else to report. i'm going to an art opening, for no reason, just to get out and i like the hours, i can be home by 9pm, also its close, and i might like the art. i've been feelin the need to get out more lately and thats not a bad thing. i've been working lots also, but you dont need to know that.

i feel better now, only just

yep, battling a cold and i have only got myself to blame. i must not stress about stuff, but my emotions and fears are both a strenth and weakness.

its been a long time since i wrote my last blog.

i wrapped up the dance play, china duet trilogy part one, with craig peade, and its was gret to tread the boards. it was on the crazy stormy weekend and i know some who just couldnt make it because public transport was cancelled. aristically it was a great success, and i was on a high as a went on holidays in perth, and god bless its soul, it was hot and i got some beach time in. it was great to catch up with family and friends, and i ve made the resolution to visit at least every year (my last visit was seven yers ago).

also the inevitable orbit launched its e.p "first" at the old bar and i was a great night.i rocked and we were tight, just shows what jamming once a weeke does to ya. now i can listen to the album unencumbered by organizational issues, i thing its a nice start to a legacy.

the hi god people are now raising thie ugly breaths again, performing at hybrids and folklore with a bunch of other acts. may the first between 12 and 2 natinal gallery of vic scultpture garden. its free, and i recoment it for the whote ftsm blog family.

i can write any more. feeling a bit yukky and i should rest.

another big week down the tubes

firstly, i think too much, i worry too much, and i like too much.

2. played my solo album launch. the album zhu zi dan ge (jur ser daan ger) and i had fun, but because i wasnt sleeping as much because i'm a stress head, i could have had more energy. still the couple of days after. i felt really relaxed.

for those who missed the gig. here are some of the happenings.

wet patch made me cry with thier dentist drill sound.

j.k fuller was full of variety and cosmic suitcase dreaming. best jk show ive seen, but of course i aint seen too many.

i played 3 songs in shirt and tie, looking smart. 1. airport waiting lounge (an inevtable orbit song as yet practised) 2. door a, door b = door AB (another i.o song) 3. a shabby cover of the puddles 'thursaday'.

then to a drum loop of the late great mel taylor of the ventures, i did a strip, more like taking my clothes off. i stripped down to red boxer shorts and put red face paint all over the face.

i then self kariokied (sang along to a backing track of the album minus the vocals (plus undreased gems), tried to dance but i didnt have much energy.

the songs were 1, isle (my next single later in the year and probably the poppiest thing ive ever done. the backing track has 10 vocal tracks) 2. orbit within yourself (i did some good miming to the words) 3. tidal trains (i did a version of this on pat o'briens show the night before. i had to sit down and read the lyrics of this new tune) 4. cloudburst downshine 5. against the grain (thanks second easybeats drummer for your unknown services. a great new snapper-esqe song. 6. g,s,j (i was doing a stupid running thing for this one. i felt at one point like a bit of a prat, but got over it)

there you go.

also been practicing my dance work with craig. do come along on either march 5, 6 or 7 at 8pm. its atr the oki do yoga centre in carlton (3 waterloo st, its opposite the state housing flats on lygon st in between elgin and vic roads on the left hand side) its shaping up as my best work and much more of the ground than the airy fairy direction ive always taken.

i feel a bit more relaxed now that everthings falling into place, its a busy year, and its funny that i always seem to pay for slack years by bieng five times as busy the next year. its all me driving my boat im afraid. sail on sailor.ohhhh!!!

xtc, bill, and sick of music for the time bieng

the sunday sizzles gently away as i wait for the time to play in my rock band. going back to the empress hotel is a funny experience, like im going back to the past, but i remeber the energy i gave up on that stage and i love it.
been listening to xtc, the virgin singles comp. i like half of it to 3 quarters, but some songs are just too baad, sounding like the police, but 'grass' is a classic as is 'the loving,'. im a big fan of 'love on a farmboys wages', and i remember 'are you recieving me' as well: its cute. ive played it too much though and i think i'm going through a less music more reading stage.

been as you dont ask i'm reading red dust by ma jian, and it tales me back to trekking in western china.i will return there soon.

also i got 'still some light', the new bill fay album. i think my emotions get the best of me, when it comes to finding one of the great lost british voices ,as in the last two months, ive purchased and dowloaded about everthing curreently on offer. the new album has more demos from the time of the last persicution days. why he'd wamt to stick on a third version of 'sing us another song mae', which is exactly like the other two released versiions is beyond me. the second cd is a bill fay new album from last year. bills voice is crackly, probably due to fag smoking, as every second picture you see of him, he has a fag in hand.i really think this album should have been whittled down from 24 tracks to 14. its too long and i think some songs are better than others. the best songs rank with anything billss done. 'open my eyes' and 'keep turning the pages' are two gems. . keyboard sound can be tacky, but bill just has a korg synth. i can get over that though. i have bill fay overload.i have to stop listening for awhile
so as i sweat and the food digests in my tum, i say farewell. look forward to single launches and dance plays in the next month. its nice to be busy. ive just got to control my emotons (dont we all), i'm a passionate man.

oh lordy im tired of this

finally finished my book of writings which has a lot of stuff, some finished, some unfinished, some from previous from the same mothers, so from nowhere. theres part one of my music biography (1966-2000), a story about living in china, music, and theatre articles. its a hoot. now its gonna take a million years to get published.

so i've been getting up everyday at 4am to finish this thing, and now i can sleep till the dawn comes up. also planning stuff. my dance play ( 1st part of the china duo trilogy) is to go up in early march, inevitable orbit launch their first e.p called 'first' (o.k its after the bee gees david nichols).

the last month has been a wild ride. and i'm never going to smoke pot again after my hobart experience (i dont wasnt to talk about it) had a lot of fun though down there.

sorry if i sound like a sad sop, but actually i've been having lots of fun,

still i havnt learned how to put you tube stuff in here its a matter of time laddies
been watching a lot of the outer limits lately. i love it.
